November 2013 Meeting

JK Wood (b  / tis our in person speaker. Below are the details:
JK Wood is a Software Engineer in the data warehouse at American National and lives in Springfield, Missouri. He has two and a half years of experience working with SQL Server and has worked and played with computers since the mid nineties. He is passionate about helping people to move beyond just writing code to writing beautiful, functional, and above all maintainable software.
The title for the talk is: Leaving a Legacy for Future You and will cover:

An unavoidable responsibility that falls to anyone coding or scripting is maintenance. Whether it’s our own code or someone else’s, we quickly end up in a pit of confusion. Today’s clever hack is tomorrow’s migraine – but it doesn’t have to be like this. Knowing when to comment is just as important as knowing what to comment. Ever thought about using unit tests as living documentation? I have a variety of tools, tricks and patterns you’ll be able to take away from this session.  While Future You may tell you to put down the extra slice of pizza, it’ll also be giving you big hugs for making life better for all of us.
